Loss Hair - Missing a strand or two: take Generic Propecia

Everyone loses scalp hair. At birth, the average head is covered with around 100, 000 follicles - pouch-like sacs which produce individual hairs. Although the number never changes, the activity of each follicle alters as we become older. Excessive loss of hair is called alopecia. It can result from heredity, a medical condition or even drug therapy. Androgenetic alopecia is the commonest type of hair loss. It is responsible for around 95% of the cases of baldness in the USA. Men suffer from androgenetic alopecia far more often than women. Two factors influence hair growth: a genetic predisposition to undue hair loss and the male hormone testosterone. Commonly, an enzyme in hair follicles converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT stimulates the growth of hair, but also diminishes hair follicles on the scalp, resulting in thinner, fuzzier growth. A genetic predisposition, along with higher levels of testosterone and DHT, increases the likelihood that scalp hair growth may be badly impacted. Baldness is observed when the number of shed hair is larger than the rate of re-growth or when the re-growth is thinner and/or shorter than the hair that is lost. Androgenetic alopecia is a cosmetic defect. One of the most widespread methods to treat it approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is Finasteride (Propecia). Taken once a day in a pill form, Propecia deteriorates the conversion of testosterone to DHT, thereby preventing the shrinking of hair follicles. Propecia is for males only and must not be taken by women, as it may lead to birth deformities. GENERIC PROPECIA, which is as effective in treating alopecia as the branded drug, is a lot cheaper and, hence, can be afforded by a larger number of males experiencing baldness. As a result of a 24-month study 83% of men aged 18 - 41 with mild to moderate have maintained their hair. The majority of men reported improvement in appearance. Generic Propecia may trigger side effects. In clinical studies, side effects from Generic Propecia were rare and did not impact most males. An insignificant number of men experienced certain sexual side effects. Each of these side effects occurred in less than 2% of men. These adverse side effects were impermanent and disappeared in men who stopped taking Generic Propecia. These adverse side effects also disappeared in most men (58%) who continued taking Generic Propecia.
